Our client was tasked with creating an homage to Ridley Scott's iconic Superbowl ad for Apple
in just a week! The project posed a number of challenges: A small space, low ceilings, and not enough extras to fill a single shot. The only solution was to plan ahead and design a shot that overcame all of these challenges. Here's an example of one of the shots from the new ad.
Shot 1
The first shot had all of the extras site frame left with the actors running down the middle of the frame. Chairs were placed to indicate where they would run out of the middle of the frame. (Tap to vew full image.)
Shot 2
With the camera locked into position, we shifted all the extras to the right side of the frame. (Tap to vew full image.)
The final composition included a number of post-production effects. The first was to increase the height of the ceiling by digitally increasing the size of the columns and to remove the ceiling. To add to the visual look and atmosphere of the location as well as to assist in combining the two shots, we added more smoke. Here's the final ad below.
